Family, Friends – The Farm
We are a small family owned and operated farm located in Streamstown, Alberta. We are just 15min north of Lloydminster off of Hwy 17 which makes it very accessible and convenient for not only visitors but also us. In 2022 we decided to make the move like many in Canada from the big city and enjoy the world of farm life and homesteading.
The farm has become very much a homestead with a lot of re-use, repurpose and recycling happening. When we purchased the farm, the land had not been maintained for many years so clearing paddocks and repurposing paddock fencing has been a big task since acquiring this small piece of paradise. It is amazing what can be accomplished when the family works together.
We as a family had decided on farming KuneKune pigs for many reasons, most of which were outlined on the home page of this website. One of the reasons not listed was that the “Mom” part of our family has been collecting ornamental pigs for decades so pigs was simply an obvious and easy decision to make. Her dream to own real live pigs became a reality in 2023!
Our KuneKune pigs are definitely friendly and full of character. Hamlet and Wilbur our initial two male studs will be part of our family for their entire natural life as will their mating females Petunia & Prudence and will remain on our farm. Once their life cycle of potential breeding is done, these 4 will still stay and be part of our family for the remainder of their days.
Farm Livestock Guardians – Family Friends
A very big part of the family farm are our 3 very Bougie Dogs and of course Samuel L Jackson (Sam) our cat who lives inside! Our 2 male dogs are 50% Maremma & 50% Great Pyrenes. Our female is 100% Great Pyrenes! When this was written, 2 of the dogs were young pups but all of them will potentially be very large farm dogs and perfect here on the farm as they are natural protectors of livestock. Traditionally, Great Pyrenes are amazing farm and livestock dogs. Our dogs have a very friendly demeanour but when a killer leaf falls from a tree, well, everyone goes crazy.
Our family farm is looking forward to providing our community with fresh produce and more as our farm grows. Hamlet & Wilbur will definitely be busy creating new exciting products sourced from our farm.
