Meet Our Dogs

Well, our dogs are all at a minimum 1 yr old and all have unique personalities. The one thing they do have in common is that they must at all costs defend the house from killer snowflakes, leafs, wind, birds, pasture cats, grazing cows and horses. NONE of them really like the neighbours tractor, or, perhaps it is the neighbour. Who knows, lol.

Luke was our first and is the oldest of the group. He is 50% Great Pyrenees, 48% Maremma, and maybe 2% Collie. He is a big boy and definitely the leader of the pack most days when it comes to guarding and making us aware of killer leaves and snowflakes. Luke has such a gentle demeanour especially when he takes treats from you. However, Luke can never get enough attention, constantly wanting more, endlessly, but he is AWESOME! Protects well, and is great with Hamlet and Wilbur.

Solo is our other male and he is the largest of the 3. He is big and strong and extremely loyal. He has a bond with the 3 people who live here beyond what most people see. Always watching to make sure we are ok is what it seems sometimes. He is also the father of the newborn puppies Leia had on March 24, 2024. Solo is 50% Great Pyrenees, 47% Maremma, and 3% Sheppard. He is black with some browning and beige fur in his more furry spots. Solo is also amazing with the pigs which is good and he is a true sweetheart when it comes to cuddling. He thinks at times he can pull off being a lap dog. What a joker!

Let’s just say that when Luke sits on one side of you and Solo on the other, you really do feel invincible.

Then we have Leia, our wonder mom. She had a litter of pups (from her and Solo hooking up) and as a first time Mom, she was amazing and continues to be as this is written. Leia is 100% Great Pyrenees and she pretty much runs the show. She has Luke and Solo under her control but we will see what happens after she is fixed as Solo will also be. Leia likes her treats and she also likes to guard along side of Luke. She is pure white unless she is digging for moles and groundhogs. Yep, she is a natural hunter and this coincides nicely with her getting along with our pigs, Hamlet and Wilbur.

The dogs with Prudence and Petunia, our female pigs, has not been mentioned as they have not had much exposure to the girls. The girls are in a smaller pen right now but will be moved soon.

AND WE HAVE ADDED TWO DOGS TO OUR PACK!
